When on a golf vacation, I expect three things: Great golf, great service and spectacular scenery. Las Sendas Golf Club, located in Mesa AZ, just east of Phoenix delivers in every regard.
Opened in 1995, Las Sendas is a beautiful golf course community. Reknowned as having great views of both the Valley and nearby Superstition Mountains, this course was beautiful throughout. We found ourselves on most every hole saying, 'This is a great golf hole!' In particular, Hole #5, a Par 3 surrounded by a Natural Rock and Mountain Ampitheater, was gorgeous. The finishing hole, #18, a Par 5, 503 yard hole is the true definition of risk-reward. A great drive on 18 leaves you with a low to mid-iron home, all carry over a beautiful pond, which protects the green from the front and side.
Led by Head Golf Professional Shane Plasch, everyone, from the head pro, cart attendant course marshall and food and beverage staff were outgoing and friendly...there wasn't a single frown from anyone the whole day. With the exception of a couple of bunkers that were being repaired, the course was in immaculate condition.
The fairways were neat and trim, the greens were hard and fast and the desert areas were beautiful and manicured when needed, rough and natural when called for.
Our threesome consisted of two six handicappers and a 12 handicapper. We enjoyed the round from the Blue tees, which measured 6381 yards and were challenged by the length and the elevation changes on the course.
Overall, our trio gives this course an 'A-', with the bunker work preventing an A.
But what a great track!
